Privacy Policy
Effective date: 30 August 2026.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Austin Tolls (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes information in connection with the Austin Tolls website, the Austin Tolls mobile application, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
If you elect to receive email alerts, we collect the email address you provide, together with the alert criteria you configure (such as the toll point, price threshold, and schedule) and a confirmation token used to administer your subscription. Within the mobile application, we collect the commutes you pin and the alert rules you create.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you access or use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information, including: (a) device and installation identifiers, including a randomly generated install identifier assigned to each installation of the mobile application; (b) push notification tokens, where you have enabled notifications; (c) device and software information, such as platform, application version, and bundle identifier; (d) log data, including Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser or client type, access times, pages viewed, and the referring page or request; and (e) usage data collected through cookies, pixels, software development kits, and similar technologies, as described in Section 4 below.
2.3 Location Information
With your permission, the mobile application may access your device's location in order to provide proximity-based features, such as sorting toll locations by distance. You may decline or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings; doing so may limit the availability of certain features.
3. How We Use Information
We may use the information we collect for purposes including to: (a) provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service; (b) deliver the alerts and notifications you request; (c) understand how users interact with the Service, including through analytics; (d) display, measure, and improve advertising; (e) monitor, detect, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; (f) comply with applicable legal obligations; and (g) enforce our rights and protect the rights, property, and safety of the Service, our users, and others.
4. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
We and our third-party partners use cookies, pixels, local storage, software development kits, and similar technologies to collect information about your use of the Service.
We use third-party analytics providers, including Google Analytics, to help us measure and understand usage of the Service. These providers may collect information sent by your browser or device, including identifiers, usage information, and page interaction data, and may combine it with other information they have collected. For more information about how Google collects and processes data, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The Service may display advertising, and we may work with third-party advertising partners that collect information through the technologies described above in order to serve, personalize, and measure advertisements, on the Service and elsewhere.
You may be able to limit certain collection through your browser or device settings, including cookie controls and, on supported devices, advertising preference settings. Google provides a browser opt-out for Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. How We Share Information
We may share information as follows: (a) with vendors and service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as email delivery, push notification delivery (including Apple's Push Notification service), hosting, and analytics; (b) with advertising and analytics partners as described in Section 4; (c) as required or permitted by law, including to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to respond to a lawful request from a governmental authority; (d) where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Service, our users, or others, or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, or security issues; and (e) in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, in which case information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Mapping features within the mobile application are provided by Apple Maps and are subject to Apple's privacy policy. Toll rate data is obtained from publicly available sources and does not involve the transmission of your information to the data provider.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Alert rules and pinned commutes are retained until deleted. Each alert email includes an unsubscribe mechanism, the use of which deletes the associated alert.
